iD Dunedin Fashion Festival 2024
iD Dunedin Fashion Festival 2024
The iD Dunedin Fashion Festival, coming early April 2024, will support Ōtepoti Dunedin’s fashion industry, by celebrating fashion, design and creativity.
iD recently announced that the Dunedin Railway Station Show and the iD International Emerging Designer Awards will become a biennial event with the next event set for April 2025. However, with iD Dunedin Fashion Festival 2024, this does not mean that the fashion loving public have to wait until 2025 for their opportunities to celebrate fashion and creativity in our great little city.
The 2024 iD Dunedin Fashion Festival will be the alternative year event for iD Dunedin Fashion Inc, it is a platform for anyone involved in fashion to be a part of the iD Dunedin Fashion calendar 2024, and to host high-quality events that inspire wearers of fashion, put a spotlight on our local fashion designers, champion our local creatives, support our retailers and provide opportunities for connection and collaboration within the fashion industry and with our wide creative communities in the city.
Events will be diverse and inclusive, will focus on sustainability, will reflect trends and thinking in fashion, will challenge and inspire, all of which will help make the event and the attendees part of an international fashion conversation. The iD Dunedin Fashion Festival is set to include pop up catwalk shows, exhibitions and installations, shopping events, hands on workshops, informative talks, movie screenings and more. The craft of fashion and our local designers and craftspeople will be celebrated during the festival, incorporating our much-loved established designers and new talent, some never seen before.
An exciting young designer fashion show will take place on Saturday 6 April as part of the Festival. ‘As We Watch The World Go By’ seeks to unify and elevate creative communities in Aotearoa. The show will bring together 24 emerging designers from all around the country, and is collaboratively being organised by Ōtepoti designer Ethan Cruise from Imperfect Creatures, Ōtepoti designer Jack King from Je Pleure, Pōneke designer James Warrender from New Life Studios and Pōneke designer Finn Mora-Hill from Fringes Garments. The show aims to create an inclusive space that celebrates creative expression and craftsmanship in Aotearoa while crafting a narrative that weaves through the threads of existentialism, inviting viewers into a world of profound reflection.
While we put together our call for proposals for associated events, due out early 2024, please put your very fashionable thinking caps on, and come back to us with your exciting proposal! Fashion is any fashion item or experience: for example clothes and accessories, makeup and hair, along with anything inspired by fashion or inspiring fashion like music, photography, art, film, sound, dance and hospitality. The fashion list at iD Dunedin 2024 is limitless; let your imagination run wild.
