The Bowerbirds

The Bowerbirds deconstructs preloved garments and reclaimed materials, then adds textile treatments to create exciting and unique wearable forms. The collection imagines a world where all the forgotten, vintage and waste textiles are re-used and re-imagined. Prints, patterns and embellishments have been pushed to the limits of sensory overload, aiming for a disruptive camouflage that subverts the distinction between waste and high fashion. Textile prints are patterns inspired by the bowerbird which have responded to the realities of their environment. The Bowerbirds designs are not a compromise between ‘waste’ and ‘traditional’ materials - they combine both. The bowerbird is deeply rooted in its environment and its materials— it is a design practice that can only be sustainable. This collection aims to follow that design tradition.
